Ava DuVernay is a Californian born in Long Beach, California on 24 August 1972. DuVernay was encouraged to pursue her love of art by DuVernay's aunt Denise as a young girl. The aunt who was a night shift nurse, let her study literature for art as well as theater in the daylight. DuVernay enjoyed the movie West Side Story, which she introduced to her. DuVernay saw how art was an effective tool for promoting activism. Similarly DuVernay's mother was socially aware and taught the importance of speaking up through art. DuVernay was born in Compton by her parents but spent the summers with Lowndes County Alabama. This is the place where her father's family has lived for many generations. DuVernay's Father recalled witnessing the historical march of the Civil Rights Movement over the Edmund Pettus Bridge. It was in Selma Alabama, a neighboring city. Her summers in Alabama's Selma would be the inspiration for her later a film about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. DuVernay earned her Saint Joseph High School diploma in Lakewood California. Following graduation, she attended her first year at the University of California Los Angeles where she earned qualifications in English and African American studies. DuVernay started producing broadcast journalism as an elementary school student. She began her career as an assistant for CBS News in the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay remembers being given the task of watching the house and examining the garbage from one of the juries. When she was dissatisfied with journalism by the tasks she was assigned, DuVernay decided to pursue the field of publicity. DuVernay was hired straight from college to be an intern at a small studio. In 1999, she launched her own firm of public relations dubbed The DuVernay Agency. In addition, she launched several lifestyle and promotion networks such as Urban Beauty Collective. Urban Eye, HelloBeautiful, and Urban Thought Collective. Autumn Riley.............................Autumn Riley was born in Los Angeles United States. Autumn Riley has the birth actress of. The actress is well-known for her role in American Experience, (1987) A More Perfect Union and A More Perfect Union (2009).
